Picture Login is a simplified sign-in method designed for younger users, allowing them to authenticate using a sequence of images instead of a traditional password. This method is only available within school-managed networks and must be configured by Prowise. This guide explains how to use Picture Login and what to do if issues arise.
Important Security Considerations
-
Picture Login is only enabled on school-controlled networks to protect student privacy.
-
Picture Login is configured by Prowise GO Engineers or Prowise Service based on agreements.
-
If multiple schools share the same network, users may need to select their school first before proceeding.
-
Whether an account requires a text-based password or a picture password depends on the primary group settings and individual user configuration.
Step-by-Step: Signing in with Picture Login
A. Selecting a School / Group / User
Use the Identify with QR option
If your teacher or administrator has provided you with a printed QR code:
-
Click the Identify with QR button (see icon in the lower-right of the screen).
-
Hold your QR code in front of the camera.
-
Your school, group, and name will be automatically selected.
-
You will still need to enter your password (text or picture-based) to complete the sign-in.
This method is designed to help younger students quickly and independently navigate the sign-in process.

-
[Optional] Select School
If your network includes multiple schools:-
Choose your school from the list.
-
Click Continue.
-
-
Select Group
-
Find your class or group from the options displayed.
-
Click on your group to proceed.
-
-
Select User
-
Locate your name and avatar.
-
Click your profile to continue to the password screen.
-
B. Verification: Entering a Password
Users must verify their identity using one of two methods, based on their group and user settings:
1. Text-Based Password
-
If your group or individual settings require a password, enter it in the provided field and click Sign In.
-
Student password requirements are less strict than normal passwords:
-
Minimum 6 characters
-
At least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, and 1 digit
-
Normal password rules are explained in a separate article.
-
2. Picture Password
-
If picture-based authentication is enabled:
-
Select the correct sequence of images from the grid.
-
When the sequence is correct, the user automatically continues.
-
What Happens If You Enter the Wrong Password?
-
Immediate Feedback: The screen will reset if the entered password (text or picture) is incorrect.
-
Account Locking: If too many incorrect attempts are made, the account may be locked.
-
Picture Login accounts require significantly less failed attempts before locking compared to traditional password-based logins.
-
Locking thresholds can be adjusted by administrators.
-
Customization Options for Administrators
Administrators can configure several settings via Organization Account Management:
-
Picture Password Settings: Choose the number of pictures required (2-4) for authentication.
-
Visual Customizations: Adjust the number of visible icons per screen for better readability.
-
Account Lock Thresholds: Increasing the number of required pictures can reduce the risk of account locking.
-
Login Type Configuration: Choose whether students authenticate with text-based passwords or picture passwords on a per-student basis.
-
Desktop vs. Mobile Layouts: The number of icons displayed per page can be set separately for desktops and Chromebooks, while mobile layouts remain fixed.
-
QR Code Export: Printable QR codes for use with Identify with QR can be exported via the Group Management page in the Account Management portal.
Troubleshooting
