After installing iOS, iPadOS or macOS 26, issues could occur when using AirPlay screen sharing on Prowise touchscreens and other AirPlay receivers. These problems were caused by changes Apple made to the AirPlay pairing process in version 26.
Observed issues in iOS / iPadOS 26–26.1
The following issues have been reported:
- The AirPlay PIN code does not appear on the iPhone or iPad, preventing the connection from being completed.
- The AirPlay receiver (screen name) must be tapped twice in the AirPlay list before the connection is established.
These issues occurred with:
- Prowise touchscreens
- Other third-party AirPlay receivers
- Apple TV devices
This confirms that the behaviour was not Prowise-specific, but related to Apple’s AirPlay implementation.
Solution: update to iOS / iPadOS / macOS 26.2
Apple has further improved AirPlay behaviour in version 26.2.
Required action
To resolve the AirPlay issues, we strongly advise the following:
- Update all devices to:
• iOS 26.2 or higher
• iPadOS 26.2 or higher
• macOS 26.2 or higher - Restart the device once after the update
This ensures that all AirPlay-related processes are fully restarted.
After updating to version 26.2, AirPlay screen sharing will work reliably again in normal configurations, including the use of an AirPlay PIN code.
If you are unable to establish a connection, you can try disabling and re-enabling AirPlay to see if this helps.

Cause of the issue
The issues began immediately after the release of iOS / iPadOS 26.
In this update, Apple made protocol-level changes to AirPlay. These affect:
- Device discovery
- The pairing process
- Authentication with PIN code
Because these changes are part of the AirPlay protocol itself, they cannot be adjusted or bypassed by Prowise or other manufacturers of AirPlay receivers.
There have been no changes on the Prowise side that have caused this behaviour.
