If your Chromebook is having problems after being away from home for a while, it may be that the latest version of Chrome OS has not been installed.
After booting up your Chromebook, you first need to get an internet connection. Once you have internet access, you can start updating Chrome OS:
- Click on the WiFi icon in the bottom right corner to open the corresponding menu.
- Then click on the Settings icon at the top of the menu.
Once the Settings menu opens, you'll see the "About Chrome OS" menu on the left (halfway down the page). Select this by clicking on the text. - Next, you'll see the Chrome OS version currently installed with the option "Check for updates" next to it. Click on that to make sure your Chromebook is using the latest version.
